Hello Sadhakas!
Well my friends this may be first for me! I am combining two poses into a month! Stay with me here lol. It is time for us to move on from triangle but after the week of play with our bases it seemed like such a fun exercise to move on to a pose that is the exact same and yet totally different because of the addition of one more joint! Bend the front knee in triangle pose and suddenly you have extended side angle! Stay in extended side angle for any extended period of time and you feel very quickly the difference in the shapes. The fire that arrives in the front leg as we try to lift up rather than fall down. Makes it one fire filled shape - and yet- it is also very grounding because it is so firmly rooted in the legs. The knee bend is also well within normal range of motion so it puts ESA in the group of some of my favorite poses. The poses that keep our joints in safe places but that also help us to build long lean and usable muscles. Excited to side angle with you all!

This big change with the addition of one small thing has me thinking a lot about all of the places we add “just one more thing” just one more “yes”, just one more appointment, just one more class, just one more glass, just one more…. And so often our lower mind tells us “come on its just one more” but I am here to tell you (as is your Self) that adding just one more thing- isnt just adding one more thing- its often the thing that takes us from feeling balanced and engaged to over committed, over indulged, under valued, under seen. The saying in Ayurveda is that “more of more is just more” - do you actually need more or do you in fact need less? ORRRR do you very much need more of whatever the thing is but you keep saying “no” to yourself more and more.

This week I ask you to add “just one more thing” ON THE MAT and investigate all of the places OFF THE MAT where that “just one more thin” is in fact one thing too many! And decide what you want to do about that on your quest for joy! !
